Długi Targ is a representative part of the Main Town in Gdańsk and one of the most recognisable places in Poland. It is home to a multitude of historic tenement houses, whose facades are decorated with rich ornaments and colourful details. It is here that you can feel the spirit of Gdańsk’s former trading power.
One of the highlights of Dlugi Targ is the Neptune Fountain, a symbol of the city. Located in front of the Artus Court, the sculpture depicts the mythological god of the seas and was erected in 1633. According to legend, it was Neptune who created Danzig’s famous Goldwasser – a golden liqueur with a spicy taste. Neptune’s Fountain is a must-see on any visit to Gdańsk.
